Yes--& they're not just immune, they're poised to profit from scuttling the ship. If the US economy crashes, they can buy up assets at fire sale prices--just as many wealthy people did after the 2008 GFC--& consolidate political power. Yes! I think about that book often. My only disagreement with Varoufakis is that feudalism involved a social contract in which lords owed some obligations to their serfs, enforceable in court & by the Church.

The broligarchs today refuse even those minimal obligations.
