As well investigating and recording these monuments our goals are not only to investigate the antiquity and state of preservation. We also hope to collaborate and learn from the local fishing communities who have been using these monuments for hundreds of years at least. 2/5

Inside the trap range of inshore fish species who inhabited this part of Spain Atlantic coastline and are fished with this traditional method. Earliest written evidence of the stone #fishweirs in the area come from 14th century but may data to earlier periods possbaly Roman.3/5

Currently the fish weirs are being utilised by the local communities ie Asociación de Mariscadores JARIFE, not for commercial purposes but rather as a form of community conservation and coastal heritage preservation. 4/5
