If that is where the information is would you rather just not have the information at all? Like I understand the whole boycott and happiness bubble thing but I think it would be dangerous to ignore things just because they exist somewhere else.

I closed my FB account bec Zuckerberg cow-towed to Trump - and btw he also dropped a lot of the fact checking on FB to accomodate Trump. Yes, it matters where you get your info - I'm sure the NY Times and other - wait for it - mainstream media posted Caroline Kennedy's letter.
I'm pretty sure the NYT is off the list of things we should support as well as other mainstream media. We are pretty much only left with Rolling Stone and NPR aren't we? And independent journalists.
I’m just pointing out that digging into each other on details like this hurts our overall goal of overthrowing these monsters. Posting on meta is NOT the same as putting chicks in a blender. We need to be mindful of what we’re demanding of our teammates in this fight.
So it's not the same as putting chick's in a blender, but it is the same as throwing money and telling these monsters, "Way to go, I'm supporting you."
Maybe you're good with that so you can keep your social media, but I'm not.
Wrong. If you don’t want to post on meta, great. But your gesture is symbolic. Like giving up plastic straws, it is more performative than substantive. We have a long and intense battle ahead and we need to keep our anger focused on and directed toward the truly evil actors.
No, but giving in to their wants is not helping.
Any little bit we can do, we have to do.
Especially now.
This is not a game.
This is a very real threat.
Posting on their sites is still lining their pockets and helping THEIR CAUSE.
It is a small thing.
But right now, that's what we can do.
Also, give yourself some grace. You do NOT have to do every little thing you can think of at every moment. This is going to be a LONG battle and we need your passion, but we can’t fixate on perfection!
And over time people will leave for the alternatives. In the meantime, if that is where the information is then having that information is important too. So, encourage people to not put the information there. Don't encourage blindness to the information.
Yes, but sometimes people just share what they see at the time. It is also on YouTube and within this thread I think it is directly on BlueSky but I might be thinking of something else. I just think we shouldn't poo poo the sharing of things. We have a choice to not click it.
Yes, he gets ad revenue. But a boycott of those who advertise there would be beneficial as well. If we are going to make Zuck the pariah I think that would work better than punishing gramma who checks what the grandkids are up to. Or not, I don't even know anymore.

Who cares you can post it from others that aren't affiliated.
Bc I'm sure if we all said who cares?
It's gotta start somewhere.
I'm certainly not going to feed them any money.
Maybe you're good with that so you can keep your social media, but I'm not.
Or, "Well, I just don't want to get involved it's not my problem."
It's our problem.
We're women.
We're a minority.
We have to do every little thing we can.
Even if it's an inconvenience.
Any little bit we can do, we have to do.
