The Democrats voted him, Durbin and Klobuchar into their leadership roles unanimously. When I asked my senators why they voted this way, I got this response:
This actually makes a lot of sense. Most enterprise applications never actually delete records they soft delet them. So even if you think you're deleting it you're not.
After reading about trump's speech at DoJ today, probably the best we can hope for is to try to convince the troops to stay in their barracks when trump calls for them. Our Vet's should be up for that challenge.
Schumer made the right move. Trump’s goal is to shut down the government, which includes the judiciary. Voting for the bill stopped him. Now that dog has caught the car and will pay for their actions when people get hurt.
You’re still not looking at the big picture. What do you think Trump and Musk would do with Congress and the judiciary closed, with full control of the military.
A shutdown wouldn’t close the courts or Congress, nor any of government’s essential services such as airports. Republicans are doing more damage every day without a shutdown than an actual shutdown causes. Yes they would use it as an excuse but yes they are destroying government now w/o any excuse.
Is Nancy Pelosi on Bluesky? This is why I keep mentioned Dems having their own social media platform. Days of X are over. We need all our Dems in one place where we can reach out them easily.
Two really bad choices. The worst choice is a filibuster to immediately shut down government - which is what the Tumpers want in the first place. Versus, voting against the Repub CR that has a similar goal - to shut down the government.
They should actually just get rid of him entirely from the senate and Gov. Hochul pick a new senator or have a special election. Whichever is standard. I think they pick a new senator and hold an election for the new congress person?
This makes me understand better the no responses stance https://taken.by the Democratic Party. I only hear about the women standing up for their country and I do realize they have the most to lose
Minority Leader can be replaced by conference. Under current procedure 10 Democrats (doesnt include King or Sanders as Independents) must formally propose a Replacement Motion.
Then a conference roll vote by Majority can replace the Minority Leader.
I just said that is there any way to impeach him or force him to resign but then the other stupid Senators have to go along with it otherwise y'all really need to vote these people out STOP voting the same f****** idiot people in
Yes. #Next #Leader - @durbin.senate.gov @jeff-merkley.bsky.social @murray.senate.gov @democrats.senate.gov I am calling for an internal Caucus vote for new leadership. Murray maintains Pro-Tempore until new fighting leader chosen. #Enough Schumer has failed the moment. #Leadership
When could such a vote happen? How many Democratic Senators would need to support it to bring it to a vote? Which, if any, Senators have indicated support for such a vote?
As we engage in our political discourse, it’s important to look beyond our own feelings about issues and understand the greater impact decisions will have on society. A full gov’t shutdown would have been preferred by GOP Republicans. And our media would have spun the blame on Dems anyway.
While I support what Chuck Schumer has done in moving forward the CR Bill in order to prevent a full government shutdown, I do believe the no one should hold political office for as long as he has. Term limits is the silver bullet that will cure all issues we have in government and politics!
Sold out. His son in law is a lobbyist for a major Wall Street firm Blackstone and former staffers are lobbyists for Amazon, Intel, Google and other firms. Schumer is a total sell out.

You do realize he’s not up for reelection until 2028? You really want to wait that long? The way he’s leading our party, there won’t be elections by then.
No, we don't want to wait that long, but if he won't resign, we can lower his status in the Senate and seek to have him primaried, in the meantime. If different plans come in the meantime, it's all good. If not, we will be ready!
Yes he’s explained it. He thinks if the gov is shut down then Trump will just never reopen certain departments. Thinks it’s a better idea to fight the layoffs which you can’t do if the gov is shut down. Plus it gives the pres cause to declare a state of emergency
No, because that’s exactly what they want us to do. Do you understand there’s dismantling the government the next thing they want to dismantle is our Democratic Party so I’m not playing the game.
Impeachment. As he knowingly acted in a manner that was not in the interest of the people, whether knowingly,, or unknowingly, he ultimately has given aid and comfort to a known insurrectionist (Trump v Anderson 2024) and needs to immidiately be removed of office (18 U.S.C. 2383).
It won’t happen because that’s not how things are done traditionally. Democrats are slaves to tradition and decorum and any even suggesting they step outside that is more offensive than anything the GOP is doing.
Idk but I know what we can do: No votes or money for any democrat, even your favorites, until we have new leadership. They work for us, and they’re fired.
he can be replaced..Yes, the Senate Minority Leader can be replaced at any time if the party caucus decides to do so. While leadership elections typically occur at the start of a new Congress, the party can hold a vote to remove and replace the leader whenever they choose.
To replace a Senate minority leader the party's senators typically hold a private vote by secret ballot, to select a new leader from among nominated candidates. The process involves lobbying and discussions among party members to determine the most suitable successor.-- fr Wikipedia & https://Go.com
Just saw a very good outline of how to do it (I was interested to see how that would unfold - as a guy from 🇨🇦) @winterspolitics.bsky.social outlined it quite well. Give it a look…
I called and demanded that vote against the CR and replace Schumer as minority leader. I’m happy that they voted no. I also told them in a message yesterday that I was disappointed I voted for them. Maybe they’re starting to listen?
I’d like to see them take a vote of no confidence and vote in a new leader - literally ANYONE who did not vote yes for cloture. It’s a fairly low bar. Walk upright? Check. Didn’t sell out America to the MAGA-Nazi party? Check.
It takes 8 or 9 Democrat senators to write a letter petitioning Schumer to hold a meeting where a secret ballot vote can be held to choose new leadership. May I suggest Mark Kelly of AZ. or Chris Murphy of CT.
But what does "centrist" mean? I understand that a Democratic centrist is in a middle position between the Democratic representatives, not in the middle position between the far right Republicans and the Democratic representatives.
I don't really care how we choose the next one. I'm busy looking up the best way to clean a sticky guillotine... (I really like the Scrubbing Bubbles commercials, so I'm leaning that way.)
I’m not making any contributions to anyone until I see a change. The only thing that’s changed since the election is how many requests for donations I’m getting, and it’s increased a lot. Do something damn it!
Why would we want to cut off our nose to spite our face? I truly believe that Conservative GOP Republicans have masked themselves as liberal progressive Democrats in an effort to destroy our efforts to be successful in politics. Please continue to donate to Democrats and ignore contrary efforts
My guess is that Schumer will step down of his own accord. He might even resign from the Senate. I don't think he expected the vicious response to his decision. I personally am disappointed at how this played out, but history will be kinder to him than those lashing out in anger at him
Yes, I think it’s nine or 10 senators have to request in writing that they convene a meeting and they have to request it of Chuck Schumer as the leader however he’s obligated to convene the meeting and then they have to vote on a new leader
First thing I did was check to see when he’s up for re-election and I only got as far as the first two letters of his from name and Google finished the question for me. Guess I wasn’t the first. 😠
Are you kidding? The majority of us are angry and 100 percent focused on fighting against these horrific republican policies . We have reason to feel betrayed by our own party leaders who just handed Trump a win . You are misguided . And i'm being nice.
Senate Democrats were facing an difficult choice. Let the government shut down and be blamed for it while the mob continued to ravage the government and ruin our lives or allow a vote on a horrible bill. A shutdown would give OMB the power to decide what is necessary. Fight Trump not ourselves.

Don’t let them forget it.
Absolutely. Not.
Then a conference roll vote by Majority can replace the Minority Leader.
I nominate Jeff Merkley from Oregon.
This is confusing
and
The president pro tem is unaffected by who is Minority or Majority Leader
Also, the president pro tem is always from the majority party, so that's another reason why it isn't her.
Right now it's Grassley.

I’m so tired of Schumer
Now I’m starting to believe he’s sold out when all this time I just thought he was weak
According to the library card Chuck Schumer was the last one to check out the SOP book from the Library of Congress.
