Is this doable on the current engine, like, at all? The engine has to be updated, right?Being an avid mmorpg player currently in WoW and ffxiv, with ESO on hiatus, I wonder about the limitations of interactivity in WoW.

Incredible stuff. I can only imagine the size and scope of this, as it sounds as big as people can imagine! I can also imagine people already have complaints about zones, customization, or other things, even when they haven't seen anything more than concept art >_<

Great post setting a good amount of expectations around the system from the get-go! The implied customization detail level for those that want to go bonkers sounds great. Still not super clear on some of the details that I'm curious about, but I'm sure those will come in future previews. Very cool!

Instances ofc. ArcheAge had open world zones and it was a mess. If every player gets a home it has to be instanced.

To encourage RP and prevent griefing, I hope to see robust access controls for houses and private neighborhoods:

- fully closed (only warband/owners allowed)
- closed with allow list (don't re-use friend list)
- open with deny list (don't re-use block list)
- open to public (anyone can come in)

Also an on/off toggle of "allow visitors when I'm not present" for any of the above options that allow others to enter my house or private neighborhood.

One of the nice things in FFXIV housing is people who make their housing "public" spaces for RP or purposes like photo studios.

Also, it's still very early, and there's not too much to go off of, but I would love it if Race-themed housing and decorations are in the scope of player housing and we could have a house aesthetic seperate from the zone aesthetic. (i.e. a Night Elf home in Elwynn Forest)

This article was so so so so amazing!!! The three pillars are such an amazing and strong foundation for the system and I can’t wait to see it grow and evolve with time! I do hope more zones/neighborhoods are considered down the line, post launch!!

Ya'll are absolutely nailing the high level concepts here, this has me more excited than i ever dared to be for housing so far.

Neighborhoods have to be by far the coolist thing in that list.

this is such a wonderful and exciting introduction, it fills me with hope and anticipation. i'm very hopeful in future that we will be able to use professions to help kit out our houses or sell stuff to others for theirs. just saying, eg a woodsmen profession which gathers wood and crafts furniture

y'know what they could do that would be a neighbourhood exclusive feature for player housing in wow.... positional audio chat. allow you to join/leave a neighbourhood audio channel that has a geographical component, so you can speak to someone next to you but someone down the street cant hear.

Amazing outlining so far! A quick question, can a player own multiple houses that are just phased differently? So that they can have one for each character to feel like their own? Important for RPers!
