Everyone praises this debut, and it's deserved, with an engaging combination of your standard midwest skramz and these evolving post-hardcore soundscapes bordering on post-rock. It's one of my favorites of the year, yet it still feels like a hot take having it this low.
I've harassed pretty much everybody I know to listen to this mathy EP out of Spain. The fourth and final track might seriously be the best of the year, and the three preceding it are nearly just as stellar. I pray they tour the states some day.
What is there to say about Parannoul that hasn't already been said? Emogaze would not be one of the biggest movements in the modern emo landscape if not for him. And this record is the perfect amalgamation of his previous two albums, both grandiose yet intimate.
I told the band this is the best revival EP I've heard since MCP's second project, and I stand by that wholeheartedly. 'LOTUS' is so much fun, parasitically earwormy, and might be my most replayed six songs of the past year. It's a must listen for 5th wave fans.
Did anyone not love this EP? The screamo heel turn Ben Quad took this year is maybe the best transformation any group had, and I plead for the band to do more with this sound. The last two songs blew me away.
I'd never heard of this band until the album dropped and everyone posted about it. There's so much going on, complimenting a post-hardcore, midwest sound with math rock, screamo, emo-pop, and pop-punk but never feeling bloated. Tons of replay value.
