Honestly I'm not trying to be condescending, but I don't see what's weird about the way I talk. English is not my first language, and this is simply how I learned to speak it.
That's right, Italians never used satire as a means of resistance in their language. They always speak in literals without any sarcasm at all, per the stereotype.
In case you're not picking it up, I'll write it out plainly.
I was being satirical. I was doing _exactly_ what Italians (those people you live around) did with their satirical, often resistance-based comedies by expressing an over the top stereotype.
