Load it with as much mem as you can. On a 64gb m1 and it is incredible, also local stable diffusion is fun for kids!

I’ve been using a 13 inch air for 5 years. I maxed on memory at the time. The small form factor is great on the go or on the couch. I use a usb hub at my desk to connect everything. The air saved a lot of $$$ and perf is good. I have no regrets

Unless you need USB-c ports the air is the best value. Decide on screen size and buy the most expensive you can with extra ram

get a macbook air if all you’re doing is web dev and a couple other bits, but if you want a nicer screen, better speakers, a faster SoC, etc, get the pro. i got a macbook pro m3 16gb, and a mac mini m4 16gb and i love them

The 14“ Pro Models are incredible, then the chip and storage configuration is only a matter of your budget :)
You can do 99% of web dev on the base configuration.

I have a 15” M1 Max as well and it’s a bit too hefty by comparison. Also you’ll probably want or need a decent 7/8-in-one hub but be mindful the ARM chips don’t play nicely with all of them relative to certain peripherals, such as monitors and stream decks.

Depends on what you wanna do with it. For day-to-day iOS dev work (and even my few experiments with StableDiffusion), my M2 MacBook Air from like 3 years ago still holds up just fine. I’d just prioritize having RAM over everything

I currently have an M1 Pro, best laptop I’ve ever owned. But the Airs are so good now, I would consider getting one instead.

If you’re considering an Air, and you can wait a couple of weeks, there will likely be a new version. Meaning you could get the latest or get the current at a discount.

Depends a bit on your main work place: desk or couch?

If you have a performant Desktop computer, you don’t need to waste $$$ on a Mac that can compete with your Desktop. Then a MacBook Air is a smart choice.
Otherwise, go for a sane MacBook Pro M4. With nano texture if you want to work outside.

Take a look at the M3 Air.

Downside with Apple is that RAM and Disk are EXPENSIVE. But I’ll take their OS over Windows when I can.
