The Macross 7 OVAs and movies are fine, providing additional story beats and mainly adventures for Basara. The reveal of Emilia as a giant singer was cool, and Dynamite 7 had some very unique characters and creatures on the world of Zola (I only watched the edited version & I'm fine with that)
