Im for no pledge of allegiance in school. The indoctrination of nationalism must end. People donβt have enough sense to value humanity over political ideology.
I was in grade school when school prayer was common (thanks Madeline Murry O'Hair!). At the time i was a christian and resented having prayer forced on me.
The thing is, they're still okay with it. They don't *care* if it goes against traditional American ideals. They Believe America is meant to be a Christian Nation because - conveniently their god says so. Also, they are bigots and will use any excuse that sounds plausible to their ears.
Thatβs the whole point of separation of church & state. No student should be subject to religious beliefs in public education. That is left to parents and their Religious beliefs. Families, individuals do have the freedom to worship as they please without reprisals from government or other Americans
My teenage self used to comment that while we were being taught separation of church and state we were forced to attend public school and forced to pray to a Christian deity.
βThatβs just how things areβ.
βYou donβt have to believe you just have to respect religionβ
