We've now gone full circle with takeaway deliveries, whereby it's easier, quicker and cheaper to order by keeping a stack of paper menus in a drawer and just ringing the restaurant directly.

We used to find this with our favourite Indian takeaway - always cheaper to ring direct, even if it took a little time. Then one day we went in to collect and saw how they were prioritising the Deliveroo/Uber/Just Eat orders because of the time tracker/penalties on them
Surely full cycle would be walking into the shop with the order, we phone our order in but walk to collect, and as long as I can walk I'll continue to do that
It never made business sense for a third party to take a huge commission, and pay a driver, when the restaurant owner's son could just as easily deliver your meal.
Depends , means you don't need to worry about paying out on slow nights , there's good work for delivery drivers as it's spread across multiple places . Same with deliveries , of there's a rush you don't have one driver trying to make too many deliveries at once
