The fact that the British public have meekly accepted that Charles and William effectively receive rent from charities and the NHS, says a lot about what a cowardly country Britain is. There should have been riots in the streets.

I did look into this.
Apparently it's very low rents and it's done to make the charities' insurance easier and cheaper than if they got the places for nowt.
However, correct me if I'm wrong.
Absolutely.
The one that gets my goat is the fact that when the UK builds an offshore wind farm, rent has to be paid to the king because he 'owns' the seabed.
Except it isn't paid to the king, this is a common and I think deliberate misunderstanding. It's paid to the Crown Estate. The majority of profits from the Crown Estate go to the Exchequer, and a portion goes to the king annually in the form of the Sovereign Grant.
Indeed. But the idea that Charles Windsor personally owns these resources and it's all paid into his bank account is inaccurate, and often deliberately misrepresented for political reasons.
At the end of the day, charlie is getting a cut of it. Also, via the Duchy of Lancaster, willie is getting £28m from cables running from those offshore wind farms, and £11.4m over 25 years for NHS ambulances parking on Duchy of Lancaster land. That's all pocketed, less a 'voluntary' tax.
Which is worse: charities and the NHS paying rent to the Crown Estate or Duchy of Lancaster, both managed by the government, or to some property management shell company based in the Cayman Islands that donates unspecified amounts to Tory MPs?
If not the royals, who else would own the land and charge rent? Ideally the NHS would own their own land, but PFI bollocksed that up...
Not happy with it, but some arsehole will profit from it. Might as well be those we can try and humiliate into reducing it....
