My parents rarely ever fed me bullshit. They allowed me to make up my own mind. In fact, to this day, I don't know their politics and they're in their 70s.
It's not just about political views it's about lifestyle. There were a lot of things that my parents did that I realised later didn't really need doing. That lawn doesn't need cutting every week as an example
Ah, no. I didn't get any of those kinds of things that I remember. If I have a criticism, it's the fact that they gave me no financial education and I struggled as a young man.
But that's not bullshit, they just didn't do it with me - it wasn't talked about.
Some of the lifestyle things are just what was normal routine round the house, mealtimes, chores etc and it did take me a while to realise that the world wouldn't end if I didn't have an apple pie every week or cut the lawn.
On the other hand, they were very good at teaching about finances. They encouraged me to get a credit card and how to use, taught me about interest, pensions and mortgages. Absolutely no complaints about that. My wife was taught about DIY but nothing about finance
