There’s a theory that Adams being a computer nerd chose 42 because 42 is the ascii code for “*”, a wildcard, so life is whatever you want it to be. Its bollocks though as Adam’s has said it was a totally random choice. Nice bit of infinite probability that it turned out to have a meaning.
