Depends on the Disney princess, tbh. Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Ariel obvs originate from books. Can make the argument for Elsa being a Hans Christian Anderson character too.
Buzz Lightyear can absolutely get to f**k, though.
Thankfully my kids are too old for this now, but the thing that always annoyed the pedant in me is that characters in kids' books are rarely described in enough detail for dressing up (unless they're wearing a costume or uniform). They end up dressing up as the film version of the book.
I used to work in a toy shop, local place not a huge Smyths or anything. We sold a limited range of dress up stuff and every year I would get screamed at by parents that had waited until the night before to do anything about WBD. You're not allowed to say 'sounds like a you problem' at work.
No it isn't. Not in some schools. They vary the celebrations. E.g. in infants this year in son's school they are doing celebrations on the 6th, in Juniors on 17th. Some years they do book week and vary which day which class is dressing up.

Get back under your bridge.
So yes they do
although dressing as a © would be less fun.
