If anyone remembers the garbage toxic mess that was Comet Electricals Plc, it was fairly normal to have things on display that weren't actually in stock.
Then you'd get told off by the manager for not selling one 🤷♂️
If the really big chains do it then it's because they've researched it and it increases profit. Places like Currys do loads of research into all sorts of stuff like that.
The rate at which supermarkets remove lines completely / are in store only, it's nice to know it's still an option. It's the one peace of mind left in an already stressful PITA.
Asda removed a load of smart price products from their site. They're available a few miles away (if you're not disabled).
