Absolutely but the narrow range of colours bothers me less than the fact that almost all cars are identical bloated SUVs now. I used to love watching the traffic go by but there's nothing to be interested in these days. Just a procession of charcoal grey Juke clones.
Staggeringly, the Juke is actually one of the standout designs these days. It’s the seas of VW SUVs, Ford, and all the Chinese brands like Jaecoo, Omoda and MG all churning out bland identikit medium SUV bilge.
20 years ago yes, but since then manufacturers started putting daytime running lights on cars which almost every car what has been sold in the UK in the last 10 years has been supplied with.
I think one of the reasons is that body parts are made up of a mixture of metal and plastic nowadays. They fade at different rates for some colours. Look at red Vauxhalls from 15+ years ago. Some bits are still bright red, others are pink. Monochrome colours don't fade like proper colours.
A certain colour range is called 'leasing silver' around here because there's a good chance somebody else will want to buy that car later, and so it's cheaper to lease than a more unusual colour. Supposedly that's also the reason why German police cars are now silver/green instead of white/green.
For a lot of people a car is just an appliance for getting from A to B. Makes sense they'd want it in the same colour as their electric toothbrush, blender or dishwasher.
