AHS is not the government. AHS *was* an arms-length public agency that was supposed to be independent of government interference - see, for example, the last 2 times AHS board removed.

But heart of the current allegations is inappropriate government interference for political & financial gain.

D Smith blaming AHS for any "irregularities" in the procurement process obtusely ignores that LaGrange & M Smith pressured AHS to negotiate favourable terms to private contractors who were friendly to the government.

So AHS not govt, but wasn't allowed to make independent decisions under its remit

I guess the premier didn't read the statement of claim. If the allegations are true, it implies there was pressure from the *health minister* and the *deputy minister of health* which, last time I checked ARE PART OF THE GOVERNMENT.

Nope. AHS is the operations arm of the Ministry of Health. Not some separate entity or boogeyman to throw blame on. Keep digging, I suspect there is more here to be uncovered.

The only good thing is the proposed rail master plan. It's surprisingly progressive, usually right wing governments hate transportation if it's not gas powered cars. But I'm still sceptical as there's no shovels in the ground yet
