The story this data tells is disturbing but not surprising:
1) Food Workers Can't Afford to Eat. Food workers are one of the largest working groups in the country, and in 2022, they were 93% more likely to be food insecure than non-food workers.

2) Food Work is Dangerous. Since 2015, the food industry has had the second most workplace injuries resulting in an amputation, and the third most workplace injuries resulting in hospitalizations.

3) Food Workers aren't Unionized. Like so many other private sector workers in the United States, less than 6% of the country's ~28 million food workers are protected by a union contract. In the service and production sectors, that number is even lower.
