😳 Conflating 2 issues here, yes there's lots of supportive care you can (if you're a healthy adult with no underlying health issues) use. I like tomato soup and Netflix. Vaccination prevents getting it, saves lives and reduces spread. Ffs.

Because of that irresponsible headline, we’re about to see an uptick in liver issues associated with vitamin toxicitiy, which will then cause the greater ‘them’ to want to regulate vitamins to prescription use only. There’s big money to be had in vitamins and that’s the bottom line.

Even worse- excess vitamin A can be toxic, and cause birth defects.
There will be people who begin to take large doses of vitamin A and give it to their children to prevent the measles - mentioning but A in release is dangerous and irresponsible

Caveat. UpToDate states: "The treatment of measles is supportive; there is no specific antiviral therapy approved for treatment of measles.” There is an unresolved controversy whether vitamin A may improve outcomes, especially in resource poor countries, but a universal cure it is not.

Vitamin A deficiency contributes to delayed recovery and to risk of complications associated with measles infection. But it is not well proven to be a treatment for measles. In one review including 8 RCTs and more than 2500 children with measles, vitamin A supplementation did not reduce mortality.

There is only one well-proven treatment for measles and that is preventative treatment with the MMR vaccine, which is safe and efficacious. To recommend vitamin A in place of the MMR vaccine is scandalous.

But the supplements crowd will say there is no need for COVID vaccines; you only need sunshine/vitamin D. Ditto for measles: There is no need for the MMR vaccine, since you only need some vitamin A to be magically “cured”.

Mega doses of the active form can be; since it's fat-soluble, it can accumulate in the body.

The amount people may get in a multivitamin is likely fine, but that's probably not how anti-vaxxers are gonna take this CDC communication on vit A.

If you click through all the links, they are referencing a WHO guidance, which itself is ironic. The IUs they recommend is way above the tolerable upper limit. Which might be ok when monitored by a doctor, but I can see this going very badly when tried at home.
