Two scenes stood out for me in Masahiro Makino's KOIYAMAHIKO / 恋山彦 (1937). First, this side tracking fight scene that blends 3 groups of characters into a single movement. A bit chaotic but impressive energy. Had never seen anything quite like it in Japanese films of that period.
