Spiritually, politically, he is a Boomer. A neoliberal through and through, arguing against human decency and in favor of a system so unpopular that people said: "fuck it. Let's just vote for the orange Nazi. What's the worst that can happen?"
Can you elaborate? I’d really like to understand this take and it appears that you’re well educated so I’m hoping you’ll give something more insightful than the dude that lives in his mom’s basement that I smoke weed with sometimes - he says the same stuff but doesn’t articulate well.
Sure. If we go back to 2020 when he ran for president, Pete stood out as being the young face of the party whose politics were completely unlike other young faces in the party. He pushed a centrist ideology and attacked people like Bernie Sanders as being too far left.
This is when Millennials were pushing hard for ideological change in the Democratic Party, Millennials wanted a welfare liberal Democratic Party like the New Deal Democrats while Pete was rallying against that with the similar talking points to Joe Biden or Michael Bloomberg.
Great interview. Mayor Pete is an extraordinary communicator. He really digs into salient points about the motivations behind Trump regime actions with clarity and precision.
I love this man!
I wish the American people were ready for a gay President.
His sexual orientation should be irrelevant in a campaign, but unfortunately it’s not. I just want to see an intelligent, empathetic and hard-working person in charge again! Is that too much to ask for?
He'a great, but still has that consultant glean. I don't completly believe he believes everything he says. We need real MFers now, not workshopped bullet points.
And John is great, but talks about the media as if he is not part of it. Like alot of these people, there is a sense that nothing bad will happen to them personally. They are outraged on others behalf. Sarcastic cynicism is a shit atitude for leaders to have right now.
I think he should be picked for vp. Then maybe run after that. This country won’t vote for a woman. It’s proven twice ( if cheating wasn’t involved) so even tho I’d vote for him, many wouldn’t. And we need to win.
I don’t think either woman lost because of their chromosomes. Hillary had trainloads of unfair baggage, and Kamala did not have time to put a genuine campaign together, and she is black.
This whole interview is a sanity check in. Pete doesn't sugar coat how we got here. We need an army of Pete's to get us out of this...except Trump just fired most of them.
Town halls that are unattended by politicians. They could make it like Napoleon Dynamite with a sign language dance and a speech about what they really want minus the flogging of the pinata.
I used to see Senator George McGovern and his wife at the the Baskin-Robbin’s not far from DuPont Circe when I lived in DC. People were kind, friendly and never berated him.
Pete has clearly learned from his past bid. The beard helps him pull straight white men ( and the rest of us don't mind it either 😜) and he started swearing which we never heard in his last bid. But people don't want a polished politician so he adjusted. And he's more relatable for it.

He should be POTUS. Everybody said a black man couldn’t win either.
To be vp, then run after that as I said.

We need to keep promoting the best people.
