It's simply astounding to me that we really don't have anyone in politics or the media in this country challenging the idea that immigration is always bad and that we shouldn't be helping people seeking asylum.

Not just in the UK, I experience that normalisation here too. I have no doubt there is a way back, I try to remain positive and hopeful about humanity but how long will it take to get back is terrifying, how bad will things need to get before they started getting better.

This is not to downplay the awful harm he did because he did a lot of harm. I'm just sick of the myth he was remotely competent. He's a dolt, surrounded by other dolts, who will go around breaking things until it blows up in their faces, which will happen almost immediately.

It doesn't take much to critically harm the transgender population; one budget bill with an addition to the Hyde amendment and all treatments come to a halt with just his signature. In general, all he has to do is rubber-stamp legislation and his people and SCOTUS will handle the rest.

Corbynism showed that outside of the elite strata not everyone thinks that way so there is some hope.

It was very illuminating though how those most comfortable with mainstream dehumanisation thought "kinder gentler politics" specifically and only meant everyone had to be even nicer to them.

We have always been aggressive towards others who don’t fit for whatever reason. It’s just that society kept a veneer of civilisation on top of it.
But now, that veneer has slowly been scratched off over the last couple of decades, and it’s all spilling out again.
