I block the holier-than-thou patriots who want us to believe that they’re ready to take to the streets right this minute in hand to hand combat if need be just because they say so. As you’ve mentioned, nothing anyone else does is ever good enough for them.. don’t need that crap

I block plenty of them too, but unfortunately that attitude is popular, easily digestible, and makes people feel better, so it permeates. I see it crop up in the most unlikely sources. Really frustrating and disappointing. So I keep speaking against it. 🤷

I've noticed a tandem smaller trend, personally- those same people who say speaking out or informing people online isn't "real" also dismiss my rewilding work, which is very much tangible and measurable in the "real" world.

Their actual goal is gatekeeping. It always is.

I've been a vocal adoptee activist online for about five years now, fifteen if you count casually- and in just those five years, I've had dozens of people tell me I've changed their mind about the adoption industry and changed how they acted and thought in their daily lives.

How is that not "real"?

I've spent decades doing community work- tutoring and lessons, hippotherapy, animal care/training/rehab, firefighting, none of it ever "counts".

Because the point for people like that is to signify that they're superior, not to actually build solidarity.

Do what you can.
