I’ve just been out here being against bigotry and corruption, but when the country is descending into a hate-fueled, right-wing, oligarchic nightmare, that seems radical by comparison.
Good on ya! Yeah, I actually listened to what I was saying one day and got instantly disenchanted with it.
I stopped saying the pledge in 5th grade, 1975. "Liberty and justice for all? I'll say it when we have it."
Luckily, I lived in a very liberal area and my teachers didn't care as long as I didn't disrupt it.
We moved when I was in 8th grade. At the new school, I declined, and when the vice principal called my mom about it, she laughed and basically told them to kiss our collective ass. 😁
I went from an ignorant centrist to a socialist when I joined the military. Socialized heaalthcare, housing and safety nets along with back to back to back shitty presidents and leadership really opened my eyes. Neoliberal propaganda is hard to break free from
i don't think these equate at all and i think this kind of thinking can end up driving away the people who need to learn and grow and change the most. no one is immune to propaganda, and if you are truly wanting to foster a kinder world, from one radical to another, this isn't the way.
If they learn that they're wrong then still want to be wrong because some internet randos were being snarky to them, then they proved that ARE pieces of shit.
sure, but my point here is that plenty of people do change and someone is absolutely not morally superior because they didn't grow and change from harmful beliefs; not to mention the nuance of how for many those views took hold via childhood influence or lack of education due to poverty
What happened to trying to be like Jesus? What happened to turning the other cheek? What happened to us all?
Honestly, if they're trying to make Christianity the law of the land, the least they could do is be Christian. Though true followers of Christ would never, ever follow the Monster In Chief.
I've seen some strange shit relating to this topic, from people comparing the Cheeto to Jesus (or at least the white Jesus they have in their minds [which isn't even possible because Jesus was supposedly born in Bethlehem]) to saying that God himself bows down to the Cheeto.

I'm glad you made it through and kept your heart clean. 💞
