Seems like a simple, though maybe not entirely easy, solution. Setup a card with an address in a nation without the security hole. Change your apple ID to that nation.

It is a consequence that they can now have access. The point is that the UK government wanted a built in backdoor and Apple would not give it to them. Backdoors get abused and discovered and then exploited.

“Apple apparently cannot disable ADP for users who have already added the feature. Therefore, such users will be required to remove it themselves at an unspecified time, with guidance from Apple.”

So new users will not get the feature and current users using ADP will have to disable it themselves.

Hypothetically, how many lives is that level of protection worth? 1? 100? If the encryption stopped intelligence services preventing another bombing like the Ariana Grande concert where 22 people were killed, would it still be worth it?
Not saying I’m for or against it, just looking from both sides.

Apple only dropped it because the UK government requested exclusive access to data protected by this feature. Instead of giving in to that request, Apple is disabling it in the UK. Same outcome, different strategy.
