I don't see the problem if they put first-party games on rival platforms a year, or even six months, after their initial release on Xbox. This would still provide an incentive to own an Xbox or subscribe to Game Pass (i.e., early access, other perks) while increasing their overall market reach.

I don’t think the average consumer will look at it that way.

It becomes “Oh, I can play ANY game on a PlayStation? Might as well grab that…”

As a hardware platform, they will become niche at best(if they choose to continue forward past next gen at all).

I really don't know how consumers will react. I could see some waiting it out while others rush to play early. But I think it's clear from just the example of Starfield, that Xbox needs to reach bigger audiences to sustain their games.

Yeah. It’s hard for them since their hardware has been struggling so much.

But if IJ is any indication, they’ve finally hit a groove in their games, and I’m excited to see this years lineup!

I do think the Xbox will gradually shift (if it hasn't already) into a "showcase" piece of hardware for their games. The emphasis will be to sell games and Game Pass subscriptions, not Xbox consoles.

I agree. The rumors of OEM models next gen certainly seems to support that too.

I’m all for buying their games if they are good though! I’m playing Indiana Jones on Game Pass right now and will probably buy it on PS5 Pro.

I don’t own an Xbox, because I have a PC and have appreciate their efforts to put games there.

But that’s what I’m talking about, I get Game Pass on PC, and will now just buy any really good games on PS.
