LinkedIn keeps me surprised and confused. Engagement numbers are just crazy on that platform compared to others. Wonder if they’re fake to some extent.

If you mean fake as in terms of the content is just there for the sake of being there without any means, I feel like that most of the time that I've had it opened, very few times something useful pops up.
LinkedIn is great imo. They seem to be good at delivering relevant content with less weight towards how new it is. My theory is that spend less time doomscrolling there, so everything moves slower which means less content served, which means content needs to be more on point.
I get served absolutely garbage there. It might be because I'm involved in the automotive domain. It's full of self-serving, self-congratulatory posts with no critical thinking involved. Quite unbearable most days. :(
Haha yes. It's very sensitive to who you engage with. I commented on two posts from two people who talk a lot about AI for "normal" people, and got pushed with a week of "AI expert" posts on "words that are a ChatGPT give away" and such. 😅
My network is basically full of recruiters as I never actually connect on LinkedIn with my work colleagues and my feed is mostly filled with garbage. I guess that’s on me for not choosing my connections properly.
In my experience some have built LLM bots to find and post replies for them that make them sound like they know AI/ML.
There are a lot of poser posters (in my space) that have surface knowledge at best.
Many folks that engage there are trying to show up well on a recruiter's screen.
I guess that comes back to different incentives? After all, LinkedIn is a job/career platform, and maybe that gives people more of an incentive to be active and engage a lot more...
But I'm not really sure, I barely ever touch LinkedIn (guess I should post there more)
I love the engagement there but it's not ideal for tech discussions. Great as a fan-out mechanism but falls short when it comes to 1:1 discussions or discussing feedback 🤔
They are not fake. If you pay attention, you will see posts that are 1 h old or 1 month. It's the algorithm. They assume your post will be relevant for a longer period. If you get engagement it will keep showing to new users.
