2. #CDC has characterized the 2024-25 season as being of high severity, for all age groups. This is the first such season since 2017-18, which was a very bad flu year. CDC estimates that so far this season there've been 33M flu illnesses, 430K flu hospitalizations & 19K deaths.

3. Another 18 pediatric deaths were reported to #CDC, bringing the season to date total to 86. That's a lot of heartbroken families. The data isn't offered in the weekly FluView report, but typically CDC estimates that about 80% of the children who die from flu are unvaccinated.

4. Final note: FluView gives a few details of the 2 most recent #H5N1 human cases, in Wyoming and Ohio. Both were hospitalized; the person in Wyoming is still in hospital. Of the 70 confirmed cases since the outbreak in cows began last year, 4 have been sick enough to require hospital care; 1 died.

I’m wondering when the flu map will be unreliable. The chainsaw ripping through cdc has got to be impacting everything. The felon is a bloody traitor.
