If legislation required evidence in terms of the basis for the legislation which is included in the preamble and debate, subsequent reviews after a prescribed period of implementation etc it would constrain ideology for sure and keep legislation relevant and accountable.
Yes, is dismissive. Surely Parliament is sovereign, not evidence before it. The Minister's statement to how the Adult time/Adult Crime violated int. humanitarian law, as well as the Qld HR Act, provided plenty of preamble to the monstrous nature of the proposed laws.
Absolute yes to sunset clauses!
It's just amazing that they keep passing laws that have historical data and analysis that they completely ignore, claim the new legislation will have a certain impact that is completely opposite to the evidence, then when it has the opposite effect, there's no repercussions.
The end result of allowing Murdoch's minions to set the generations against each other so we complain about other people's kids and miss the real damage of wealth disparity.
It's only the children of the poor who are locked up, rich kid's parents have expensive lawyers to keep them out of gaol.
1. Improved street lighting (on timers to not then create light pollution). We walk outside with torches in Brisbane - its pitch dark at 6.30pm.
2. Bobbies on the beat. Bikes and dogs regularly patrolling.
AFTER the event punishment of kids is cruel and stupid.
All roads lead to absolute lack of adequate funding to public schools. Not just silly little niche “programs”. Ordinary school funding from preschool to tertiary. Superfund public schools & change will come. #PatriarchySaysNo
Before the election Qld voters were flooded with youth crime problems by Sky, 7, 9 and the ABC and that rag the Courier Mail endlessly...and unfortunately the gullible fell for it. Murdoch a foreign oligarch runs Qld in absentia 😡

Sick 😫
Criminology and sociology said this wasn't the solution, yet they did it anyway. This makes it negligent and criminal itself.

It has to stop.
There are so many layers to this shame and it is part of what I'm advocating to change and want to set up a whole new charity for.
I wish there was a way to help this child to receive the support that she needs.

Kids: Why does the world hate me? Fuck it…treat me like a $&@? may as well be a $&@?.
It motivates people to take unrewarding, low paying jobs.
How is anyone going to be "motivated" if gaols weren't cruel or income support was adequate?
That not how our system works Jane.
