I’ve been so thankful for our solar battery the last week. We bought a backup Bluetti solar Gen the week before Alfred which we can charge off panels on the roof via mains or from its own panel. Much cheaper than a car too.

It's brilliant, isn't it! We've just ordered a V2L cable for our MG4. There's a backlog of orders of course because of TC Alfred, so we could be waiting a while! But, having experienced a couple of major outages in Adelaide in recent years (24+ hours), this will be a game changer for us 😊

That's brilliant.
Jane, I hope you've invested in a trickle charger for the 12v batt (the one that's the same as you get in ICE vehicles). It's the battery that powers the cabin, including lights, door locks and ignition.
It doesn't get a charge when the big batts are plugged in.

Love my Atto. I used it to power my fridge overnight when the fridge power circuit tripped late one night. Had it fully charged on standby for Cyclone Alfred in case we lost power. Luckily we didn’t.

Had my BYD Seal for a year and love it more every day! Saved thousands in fuel costs and kept fridge running phones charged and kettle boiling in power outages.

Yep - In the last few years I have used “Iris Volt” (my Atto3) several times to keep fridge etc going when we have had a blackout. Easy!

Interesting that this is happening, considering that one of the selling points of the Model T Ford was that it could be used as a generator in rural areas that lacked electricity.
