McCaffery still deserves a civil death. Iowa basketball is the shithole. He did the best that he could with this painfully average and nondescript basketball program, which plays in a hole in the ground near the majestic dental lot.

Time to thank Fran for his time and move on. Gotta reimagine Carver, move the knitters, and make it something students will come to on a cold February night.
I’d say Illinois values hoops a lot more than Iowa does. The results accentuate that. Chicago helps and Iowa’s superiority in football soothes, but Illinois basketball is here (hand over head) and Iowa is here (hand below the waist).
In one of @scottdochterman.bsky.social’s stories this week he said Iowa men’s basketball hasn’t had more than $4 mil in ticket sales since 2004. That isn’t a Fran issue. That’s a Carver issue.
Iowa has had good teams and great players since then and people aren’t going.
Have to give us a coach that connects with the fans and a consistent winning product when it matters most. WBB doesn’t have an issue with the arena. They “advance the brand” when opportunity arises. When have the men done that? Stale Wheaties.
And the team with the better players usually wins more. Fran needs to get or develop better talent and win more, regardless of venue. THAT'S how sports work.
Lol, forgotten by who? The point is there were sell outs before Clark, electric crowds at Carver before Clark. Bluder had a 67.5% winning percentage before Clark. Not arguing whether Clark took it to another stratosphere, but Carver isn't the problem.
Just called my daughter and begged for this video. She & friend, year 4 dental students at Iowa in 2023, were playing air basketball at lunch (presuming they were alone) and classmates captured it on video. She was humiliated. Fun bunch, but not basketball players.
Not even in general, it is one of life’s truest truisms that when sports people get together, they are total asshole bullies. “Ted Lasso” is fiction. Reality is they are odious predators.
