My favorite version of that song was off the ‘Concerts for the People of Kampuchea’ benefit 2LP. Live album, done in front of an audience added another dimension.
Agreed, it still holds up well today, some 45 years later. They were among the earliest bands to experiment with reggae, ska, rap, and world music, all on one album. And they pulled it off. I'm a huge reggae fan, and they played excellent reggae for a bunch of white men. They truly felt the music.
That was a great EP. I remember borrowed that album from a friend back when it was first released and avoiding him for a while to avoid returning it. (Yes, that makes me a POS, but I was young and stupid back then. I still may be, but I wouldn't do anything like that now.)

A lot of people won't get no supper tonight.
I was blessed to have seen them perform live twice.
And music made to last .
