they are mostly older, which people correctly have a sense of, but they are about 40% vaxxed (at least last time I did a deep dive), which people don't

My vaxxed 83 year old mother was killed in Dec 2022 by unmasked medical professionals. She was dead in a week. She went so fast I couldn't get there. A blessing for her, but pretty traumatic to hear my mother die over the phone.
I will never stop being mad about how she died.

I think that might drive some of the apathy, but that's another thing to put on the CDC - the omicron booster basically put people up to 70 on bar with under-40s in terms of deaths! Seniors should have been slamming the boosters into their arms! But the campaign to get boosters SUCK.

Like, we can't get a bunch of MAGAs to swallow their pride necessarily but so many people don't understand these boosters are honestly really good and helpful, and that we need to think of covid boosters like really, really good flu boosters.

I honestly think people don’t care. They think it won’t happen to them and if people are dying they were unhealthy or over anyway so 🤷‍♀️
It’s preposterous and disgusting but we live in a terrible time when too many don’t care about humanity in general.

Covid made me take a real hard look at the flu and how we just accepted 100k+ deaths a year from it as just the cost of business.

Its also mostly preventable and we just always accepted it.

Just like car deaths.

flu deaths vary quite a bit, depending largely on the effectiveness of the annual vaccine, but fair to say it's 4x+ typical flu deaths
