I was recently asked to talk about being a “content creator” and I had to flat out say I am not a content creator
To reframe what I do as an artist to being a content creator is something the internet has been pushing for a while and I just refuse to give into it or allow my life to become that

You will notice I did not include YouTubers in the above.
Everything else? Art.
You make funny tiktoks? It's a short movie -> art.
you have a podcast? in a roundabout way you could say it's music -> art.
you post photos on instagram? Photography -> art.
you make memes? it's a Collage -> art
Simple as.
and yes i agree that making a movie is magnitudes more demanding than making a stupid tiktok but if fucking Pixels is qualified as art why arent tiktoks?
Surely, people want what they make to be more than that - to be art?
Art doesn't just pass you by.
I for one have 2 entire A4 sketchbooks with hundreds/thousands of drawings yet i only thought 70 or so of them were worth showing online.
Absolutely not. Just because I have access to 2 huge sketchbooks doesn't mean the internet is privy to that art. Even if the art is good, the art is a testament to my art journey, not just content.
Utter corporate brandification speak
It sets the tone for extraction of work
They got ran into the ground.
(In all seriousness I hate this new content creator label. it sucks)
...content is just an adjective.
Sorry this is a big deal to some people. I don't get it.
It’s to make art and survive doing that for as long as I can
I can't understand how people decide to call themselves "content creators".
I've watched being an artist online morph into something where you're expected to record every moment of the process, plaster your face and voice all over all of it, become a copy-writing expert and generally be more about the brand than the art itself, and I find the whole ordeal repugnant.
That’s it
I just want people to appreciate that not everything has to be hee-hoo video.
But as an artist, I don't see drawing the connection either
Even if my work implies talking a lot I will not let that take my life away, I will use a mask if necessary
