Happy 150th birthday to the Metric System! It’s a good day for Canadians to throw away their yardsticks and stop using the USA system of measurements and become truly part of the metric world. As for the UK which I am visiting, what a measurement mess.

British kids have learned metric at school for half a century so you have to be older than that to think imperial.
(Except for road miles and mph and mpg. And beer pints. And recipes on US websites. "Cups" ?!?!)
And let's not forget the Gimli Glider!
(Sadly still 5'10" and 180 lbs. Can't seem to shake that one.)
