The cool thing about federated AT Proto sites like this is that you (or anyone) can set up a private server which talks to the whole network, but which nobody but you can control or shut down. It's a complicated process though, from what I understand..

The only caveat is that "the network" allows you to connect to it as long as you follow the rules, mostly legal-related stuff, but it's still a liability.

Without that connection, your server would be just like a mini-bsky which doesn't talk to the internet, but its accounts can talk to each other.

Newletter services aren't super great either as far as I can tell hosting nazis and such. I'm looking at which one I should recommend for my clients (I mean, and for me) and it's hard!
