So fortunate to have ended up with my dad's vinyl collection. I've carried it with me as I've moved around the world. Next best thing to having him with me given he passed in 2005 when I was 30 and he was 52.
I sent my very first piece of fan mail to Tears for Fears when this album came out. Spinning that album, and opening my first piece of mail with UK stamps.
My love of music, mail and stamps. 🫶🏻
I’m 50 and saw them live a couple of years ago. There was a man - MAYBE 25 but I maybe more like 20 - behind me who’d obviously been pregaming but was the most enthusiastic TFF fan I can possibly imagine existing. SCREAMING every word at the top of his considerable lungs. Good time by all.
If I bring wine, cheese and cracker’s can I come over and listen to your complete collection of music ? Make that 5 case’s of wine I think it’s going to take more than a day.
Kind of feel sorry for our kids today to not be able to experience the same quality of life we have had. Today it seems they are destined to be slaves to financial capture systems and cultural divisions.
23 /me chapter 11: I’m 98% the genetics of a chimpanzee.. 😎Why people pay for this information boggles my mind. Sometimes I think it’s to validate their experiences and prejudices towards others. Do you feel elevated thinking your part Neanderthal? pS: the business was to get your Data!
Dealing with my parents' old shit and thanking Christ there is at least a market for this useless trash amongst old rich people?
Sorry, saw the vinyl and had an immediate reaction. Love ya prof G. Dawg. Way to not sound bitter about Felon and man child buying or faking hair! Lifting Tips old man?
Seriously underrated gem of an album that is way overdue a vinyl repress. Elemental is full of pain and introspection, and stands in a group of records I cherish by super-pop artists who went through things and then made other darker records.
Nothing sounds better than wax albums big speakers and a good turntable! You can hear the crispness and the separation between of every instrument? Flipping thru the albums at Tower Records at the Mall? Waiting for your favorite artists to drop that summer vibe? What a time to be alive! ✊🏾
Always a favorite, who knew back in those days Prince T would become a King oligarch ? A man that was put into military school because he was a bully in public school and hard to handle at home. College bought education, a mediocre student a best. Failed business man would rule the US
America’s top fascist probably listened to this, snorting cocaine and other drugs off of prostitutes. President Patrick t Bateman was being formed in the pure debauchery cocaine fueled materialism of the 1980s.
All the while-the Soviets watched.
They were finishing Songs From the Big Chair when Roland expanded a little piano chord progression his wife liked, turning it into EWTRTW. They spent 2 weeks to get it on the album (they’re perfectionists and typically take far longer). Hard to believe Songs From almost didn’t have EWTRTW on it.
What makes this song great is it seems to pull from an old American singer in the early sixties known simply as KEITH...a discovery and production by Gene Pitney...same vibe...same tempo...basically the same sound.
It was nice they revived it twenty years later.
"When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow?
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance"
