Oh this is fascinating. My grandmother was an early WAC, and she wasn’t as slender as the other women. The scene in Six Triple Eight made me wonder if she had to tailor her uniform. #HATM

Most women had basic sewing skills in the 1940s, certainly of mending if not constricting clothes. And working class and rural women had more skills than urban middle-class ones.
