They opposed it because it didn’t cut enough. The other choice, reducing the amount of tax cuts to the 1%, will never be agreed to by GOP members.

We have one more week to stall this thing before the short Memorial Day recess. After that, people will start seeing the empty shelves from the tariffs and public support will sink even more, making these policies harder to pass. Let’s see if we can stall for one more week!
