We’ve found plenty of interesting insights. For example, racial disparities appear small and relatively consistent across countries, whereas gender disparities vary significantly - some countries show parity, while in others (like England & Wales), male offenders face much harsher treatment.

We have also uncovered substantial model uncertainty - to the extent that entirely different conclusions can emerge depending on the sample and controls used. More worryingly, there is evidence that researchers' degrees of freedom may be used to exaggerate the presence of racial disparities
