These tiny houses have been a great start here...and they Are Not tucked into the woods, they are on one of the busiest roads, leading into Langley. It's been a wonderful add to our community.

Just.... I would like to see them do something that makes a real impact to as many as possible, driving down costs. For instance, it is common in Europe to build a number of apartment buildings around public transport and shopping hubs.

Yesterday, we went off island to Everett and Lynnwood. We were commenting on all of the new large apartment buildings that have gone up over the past 5 years. Thinking about shopping and public transportation, there's a lot in those areas.

We desperately need housing on the island, especially the south end where I live. There's so many short term rentals, it's made the situation horrendous. The housing in the photo has been wonderful, as local service workers hardly have any housing available.

Did you read the article you linked...? "The budget proposal includes $600 million in the capital budget to build more housing across the state to reduce the cost of homes for Washington families."

Regardless of my views of the overall budget, this announcement doesn't contradict your article...

How many people benefit from the new housing versus the number of people who will be hurt by the cuts? Social services help everyone in need, but new housing will benefit far fewer.

I mean for starters affordable housing IS a social service? Second of all, again can you point out in this article that you linked where it says that social service $$ that people directly receive will be cut? Because I've read it twice over now and can only find directives to reduce management

Housing isn't a service. It's an asset. The state is spending money to create assets for itself instead of providing food and medical care to indigent children.

Is it better in your mind to house one person than to continue to deliver social services to a hundred?

Yeah, but those are broad cuts. Gov is proposing 600M for housing, 536M for a housing trust fund, 65M to CHIP, and 10M to a housing affordability infrastructure program. Goal is 200k units built during his term. WA needs 1.1M units over 20 years.

Some cuts are reviewing COVID-19 response programs, some are looking at reducing management overhead and travel costs. Unclear to me if it will impact housing. I would have preferred a wealth tax. Which cuts concern you the most?

The ones that feed indigent children and provide them with medical care. More children will be harmed by the cuts than will benefit from the proposed new housing.
