Mkay PC builders, what specs should I be prioritising for a new rig?
I want it to be an absolute unit that can do everything on its own. Gaming, rendering, 3D work, all of it (sometimes in unison)
I'm an NVIDIA guys, but aside from that any specific SSDs, ram or processors? π€

Still gonna keep an eye on this tho incase I ever need to build a new pc
I'm stealing this
Thank you
NVIDIA is still the goat GPU, AMD is top CPU this year. Most will likely suggest the Ryzen 7 9800X3D b/c that's what GN found with their breakdown video this year:

Also important to check the power draw of the PSU. Some of the beefy ones are too much for typical βpcβ sized UPSs.
Add in all the "once in a lifetime storms" we've lived through and I'd say even the really not great $50 Amazon one would be better than nothing.
A good PSU is worth it. Last I read, the Amazon Basics one doesn't do passthrough so if your power goes out and comes back before the battery dies it won't draw from the house again until you manually flip a switch on it.
Ram: 128K
Storage: 1571 floppy drive
Video: Vic IIe and VDC.
You wonβt need anything more or less.
The future sure is crazy
For GPU, get a GeForce RTX card. Whatever you can most afford.
Intel 13th & 14th gen have factory oxidation issues and are prone to failure. avoid at all cost
I found that you can make due with 16GB of RAM but nowadays it's quite limiting. 32GB is so much nicer. Also, think of fast storage. Check what kinda speeds do your M.2 slots support
Intel i9 14900k processor
A MSI Z90 Godlike motherboard.
128 gigabytes of ram
nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card.
Now you just hook up the proper power supply and your new heater should keep you warm throughout the winter. πβπ»
Of course budget, life cycle of this machine and what you want out of it will determine allt.
I like Team Group SSDs: cheap, fast, surprisingly good write endurance.
For big storage get an ATX case and load it up with 12Tb 3.5 drives.
Also, don't underestimate how noisy a bunch of fans can get. Try to get quiet fans - Noctua are great.
Cease, you are scaring me
I do population and system modeling in Python, run AI models, and play video games, and it all runs smoothly. Prob need to up CPU.
I run arch btw :3 big recommend linux if youβre building from scratch, easily triples performance and freedom +free.
more and more games are having 16gb as the minimum spec
If you need to go now, the AMD 9800x3D, an Nvidia 4000 series GPU, x870e motherboard, 64 gb ram with lowest latency, a NVMe SSD (I like Samsung)
Got 4 slots?
4 chips of 8 or 16GB!
Besides the obvious get a decent GPU and CPU, you're going to want an nvme boot drive & for 3d work / rendering a massive HDD storage drive (raid for safety)
You can never have enough memory these days. Especially on a workstation, I'd probably go for 64GB if you can afford it. Lots of VRAM on the GPU will help too, basically any Nvidia card really.
Ram: Kingston or Corsair
Storage: Western Digital or Samsung
CPU: Preferably an AMD build
If you want to part it out, Microcenter has a tool for you to help you figure out a budget and deals.
Also their labs website is pretty informative.
