All this is true, but I have decided to make the effort to see how I can make Linux my work desktop of choice as part of my journey out of US big tech. It is not a fun journey. Outlook alts are not fun (Evolution is ok). GIMP still lacks some basics. LibreOfficer writer not positioning images right. - ThreadSky

I have at least 3 O365 tenancies, an IMAP, 7 pst files (converted to mbox), and 2 O365 Shared Mailboxes. The last two are a small hassle because I can only connect to the Inbox only and can't see the Junk Folder. Evolution Mail is OK, but it doesn't have a great appoint reminder or mail notification

GIMP is just very weird in UI terms. It's probably worth checking out other graphics tools since there are several other free ones now.

The way LibreOffice writer mishandles relative percentage positioning and the clumsy way to correct does get annoying. I'll persevere, though.
Still haven't found a solid Visio replacement that can read/use stencils.

Depending on what you want to do, Krita might be better instead of GIMP. It's marketed as more of a drawing tool, but it can do some image manipulation too 👍

I had Krita and not tested it yet. GIMP still struggles to have an intuitive text manipulation. Multi-layer operations are lacking.

OK, I just tried the RC3 appimage. It does look like a solid improvement. It is missing one of my most used features, Layer Blending. This part of Photoshop is a real timesaver if you want to quickly zhush up a poster.

Oh, they aren't super fancy, just quick and simple. For example, inner/outer glow or drop shadows from the layer above.

Not yet, it's only latest 2.x build 2.10.38.
I had heard Ubuntu 25.04 is going to come with it, but that is the extent of my research into it as I had been sidetracked looking into finding all the office productivity apps I need
