@zzyzx.bsky.social follow-up question, do you think that the end of the Grateful Dead provided strong tail winds for the band that drove the turnout? And, if the powers at will really hated us humans, and caused Phish to stop existing (f that), do you think Goose would have tailwinds?

1) To some degree but Phish had already reached that point before Jerry died. I think 94-95 was so hit and miss with the Dead that a lot of the damage had already been done.

2) No. Maybe a bit here and there but the scene is too split up and there are too many options.

I think the scene has largely formed their individual opinions about Goose and the band hasn't really shown the ability to have a large crossover appeal outside of the jamband crowd based on spotify stats.

It could change but I don't think Phish is what's holding them back.

(It could change in that they could hit the attention lottery and one of their songs could be chosen to be feature in a TV show that becomes a big hit and they get a crowd that way or something.)

I don't think there's enough of a party scene anymore that just wants to be in a jamband-esque crowd.

I really appreciate this answer — thank you! And my last question for you, I’ve listened to 207 Phish shows, but only 10 shows from Jan’91 to Dec’94 — out of your own personal preference and bias, which show should I listen to?

Well the obvious answers are 8/20 and 8/14 from 1993. But I'm partial to 5/14 and 5/17/92, 12/30 and 12/31/93, 3/13/92, and 5/7 and anything from 6/17 through 6/22 94.
