I live in one of those red states. The amount of people who freaked out when I mentioned my trip to NYC and kept wanting to talk about safety astounded me. These folks will drive past meth hubs and dangerous trailer parks, then turn on Fox and listen to how “dangerous” liberal cities are.

Lived in South Carolina. The closest mall had a shooting at least twice a year. One friend had to take customers into the back of his job and there were bullet holes in the bricks out front.

I see a pattern. Mostly southern. The first 3 do not surprise me. Colorado’s crime is rising due to the massive increase in the population.
