I think it closed in 2000 when the owner went to work at the then-new Bear Tooth, as the film programmer. He was there for the first 10-15 years.

They were the only theater in town to use real butter on their popcorn. Everywhere else it was just "butter flavoring."

That's a neat detail, thank you! Did you know, in their earlier years, most movie theaters didn't have concessions? Was generally considered messy, lowbrow. But you could often find a popcorn salesman right outside. Even when the 4th Ave Theatre opened in ANC, it didn't offer concessions.
