The Budget should include a massive and historic increase in funding for research. Not only is it needed, but we really should be poaching ever medical and scientific researcher from the US we can. Absolutely perfect timing.

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

Every scientist and researcher gets 5 years funding, and a house near a major regional (non capital city) university.

How do we get this idea into the minds of those in govt tho?
Both sides of our politics seems so timid.
Poaching existing research programs, especially when USA had defunded it, would be a master stroke.
I wrote to Albanese as I want a 200% tariff on Tesla in Australia.
You can too. https://www.pm.gov.au/contact
On the same tariff desire.

Brian Hook, who is under a Trump fatwa, would be a difficult case.

I think his idiocy actually provides a country like us some real opportunities to make hay
From poaching clever people, to stitching up great trade deals in markets where "Made in America" is now poison
Raise the PRRT and bring in the MRRT to easily pay for it.
Many are in the medical field.
Is there really anything from the United States of Emergency that we would want to poach?

Such a great metaphor for what is holding us back - the idea that because digging shit up & selling it has been good in the past, it must still be good now
Our cultural cringe is hobbling our ability to lead. We need to believe in ourselves
