Although one of the NIH spokespersons said: “This is a short pause to allow the new team to set up a process for review and prioritization.”… the truth is: this magnitude of an abject ban on science, science related travel and public communication… is unprecedented. 😡

It’s impossible to believe this is anything but deliberate given the scale of the vandalism. The question is why…and I don’t think there is a sane explanation.
One possibility is the techbros have convinced Trump we no longer need conventional research. (Argh!). That’s the most positive! (1/2)

I think the reality is much worse. Trump, musk, Kennedy etc are maniacs that want some apocalyptic cleansing of humanity through climate change, pandemics. They believe they will spend their way out of this while the ‘weak ones’ are purged. I really think they are completely insane at this point.

You’ve articulated the kinds of things that go through my head, but assume/hope are wide of the mark… I haven’t spent much time on Yarvin/Thiel etc's ‘vision’ for the planet. Finger’s crossed that things quickly unravel due to infighting, incompetence, and tech.. ultimately all eating itself.
