In Ireland, businesses have embraced and embedded diversity polices, not just as an act of compliance, but because it has been established that they lead to better decisions and innovation, writes Petula Martyn

Diversity is useless without equality. This can be hard to hear but if you solve inequality, then you don't need diversity quotas.
If you have equality, you don't need gender quotas (to find away around, if you're the Irish government). Progressive bandaids won't fix our systemic problems.
Well that’s skewed. If you have diversity quotas which created equality then the diversity quotas become moot and can disappear organically. Everything doesn’t have to be done at the same time. One thing can follow another. This world and the internet has created very impatient people.
How have gender or diversity quotas created equality? Equality of what? And what will patience do? Having patience has led to a world on the edge of fascism. What should we be patient for?
They don’t create equality on their own but they certainly help by giving people a chance who may not otherwise have it. Patience has not led to fascism, extremes and wanting everything your own way immediately, has led to it. Also laziness and lack of education I suppose.
You're almost there - why do those people not have a chance?
As for facism, you're right about education. It's clear people have no education on why fascism comes about. Laziness and impatience, not so much. Education on the subject would explain that.
They do have a chance just not as much as others. Again because of lack of education people don’t see how they have advantages that others don’t. That’s the whole point of getting them into places and positions they wouldn’t ordinarily get.
There is a difference between lip service and actively implementing DEI policies. So sad to see some Irish companies sliding DEI references from their websites. White privilege is real, we all need to acknowledge it and work to create a level playing field for everyone to thrive.
